Palm Pixi vs Palm Pre – Boot Up Speed Test

Comment Now

When the Sprint Palm Pixi was released on November 15th, comparisons to Palm Pixi were inevitable. While the Palm Pixi is a clear winner as far as the form factor and the styling aspects are concerned, many people are curious to know whether it's fast or as slow as it's predecessor - The Pre. We know that it has a different chipset and that it should be slower, but how does that play out in the real world?

There's nothing better than a boot speed test to answer that question. Dull Geek pits the Palm Pre and the Palm Pixi again each other in a variety of tests. I recommend checking them all out and joining the discussion here. For now, let's look at his boot-up video to see what happens:

So, as the test shows, the Palm Pixi is a little bit faster than the Palm Pre (at least in booting up). The Palm Pre takes nearly 8 to 9 seconds more than the Palm Pixi to boot. Many people would have already expected it because unlike the Palm Pre, Pixi does not have WiFi. Nonetheless, the Palm Pixi boot time is as good as it gets for any Palm smartphone. It's not like anyone really picks their smartphone based on boot speed, but it's nice to know that that Pixi has a little edge here over it's big Palm Pre brother.
